The Autism Page is full of practical information to implement things like the Picture Exchange Communication System, Attention Autism, social stories and visual aids. It also has help on paperwork such as Disability Living Allowance and the Education Health and Care Plan. As a mum to an autistic child I wanted to share all the experience I have and what has worked for us.
An online community for people affected by and involved with Autism Spectrum Conditions.
We thought our now 5 year old had Autism. After a battle to get our now 17 year old help we decided to start the fight straight away and got him a statement at preschool. I write about experiences of the 2 and offer advice on how I have learnt to deal with things, plus any related things of interest.
Stephanie is a mum of four, her eldest has aspergers, her youngest has a rare condition called Costello Syndrome and intestinal failure. Over the years she has experienced many areas of life on the extreme parenting rollercoaster, from how to keep body and soul together during extended hospital stays, how to complain when things go wrong, getting statement for a child on the autistic spectrum, ensuring siblings are not left out and generally thriving and surviving the multiple curve balls the life of a special needs parent throws at you. She write with honesty and integrity and tells it as it is - warts and all!
